Théodore Psychoyos, Pirée, 2023

Théo works in a cathedral, it’s an old ouzo and brandy factory in the port city of Piraeus. He makes sculptural functional objects from leftover marble scavended around the Attic region. Wotking with form, color and assemblage he make these objects using the weight of the materials and a tool for balance. Théodore commissioned me and gave me carte blanche to photograph his studio, to look at his work and find what made them special to me. This alsmost vernacular approach to volumes and the occupation of space drew me in. I still think of that place often, it’s special sound and light.
